Hero - Jill Banfield
I cannot tell you how stinkin' proud I am of this girl who came into my life when she was in middle school. We shared many conversations and heartfelt discussions and when I needed someone at the last minute to play piano at our wedding, she came. She has so much talent and it was so awesome to see how God helped her sort out how to use her talents and gifts. These are the lyrics from her first recording! The song is called Hero.
He sits in the sand box discovers the treasure
He’s saved the day
Honored, respected, this is it
– he’s finally arrived
She cradles her softly, sings to her sweetly
Imagines the day when her greatest dream comes true
She’ll be a mom too
And dolly sleeps peacefully
Am I strong enough?
Do you think I’m beautiful?
Am I needed? Wanted? Irreplaceable?
All I ever wanted was to be someone’s hero
They sit in the schoolyard and watch from the sidelines
The kids point the finger and whisper
Yet in each of their hearts burns a question
They think they’re the only one
The town’s gathered ‘round for the great speech
White collars and skeptics; the young and the old
He speaks unfailing love and bottomless grace
Once a child in a sandbox, divinely purposed
Is my greatest Hero
He says…
You are strong enough
And I think You’re beautiful
You are needed and wanted, You are irreplaceable
So follow my lead, through You I do great things
And that makes You a hero
He sits in the sand box discovers the treasure
He’s saved the day
Honored, respected, this is it
– he’s finally arrived
She cradles her softly, sings to her sweetly
Imagines the day when her greatest dream comes true
She’ll be a mom too
And dolly sleeps peacefully
Am I strong enough?
Do you think I’m beautiful?
Am I needed? Wanted? Irreplaceable?
All I ever wanted was to be someone’s hero
They sit in the schoolyard and watch from the sidelines
The kids point the finger and whisper
Yet in each of their hearts burns a question
They think they’re the only one
The town’s gathered ‘round for the great speech
White collars and skeptics; the young and the old
He speaks unfailing love and bottomless grace
Once a child in a sandbox, divinely purposed
Is my greatest Hero
He says…
You are strong enough
And I think You’re beautiful
You are needed and wanted, You are irreplaceable
So follow my lead, through You I do great things
And that makes You a hero
