Little People...BIG accomplishments
So, we were at a corps the other day and there is a little guy there who is a lot smaller than the other kids his age. For the most part, this works in his favor and I can see points in his life where this will hinder him in some capacity. Along with that, he doesn't seem to be able to follow direction as well as the other kids and needs a lot of reminders to focus so sometimes he needs to do something else like bounce while he listens.
While we're taking a break from running, jumping, and playing games, Des takes this opportunity to tell the kids about David. So he's telling this story and talking about how little David was and how that prevented him from doing a lot because people thought he couldn't do things like everyone else. So when David finds out who this Goliath guy is and wants to face him all by himself, of course everyone reminds him of how small he is and how BIG Goliath is. So it's at that point where this little guy (who's still bouncing so you're not sure if he's listening or not) says, "so he was the smallest one?" He seemed impressed when Des explained that even though David was a small guy, and no one thought he could stand up to Goliath; David believed in God and God gave him wisdom and courage to do what needed to be done.
He went back to bouncing after that, but I'm thinking he got the message.
I like those moments.
