daniel was an old man??
So I was reading in one of my children's bible this morning the story of Daniel and the Lion's Den. In this particular bible the give you little historical tidbits on the side margins.
They said that Daniel was probably an old man when he was thrown in the lion's den - probably as old as 90. He had already been an advisor to five or six kings. Weird. Remember when that story was told in Sunday School and they would say, "you know Daniel was a little kid just like you." And then you would color the picture with this teenager looking guy in it?
I want to know what other things have been assumed from these stories.

I always pictured bible characters to be in their 20's and hot.
You just shattered my vision of a handsome and heroic Daniel...now he looks like my Pop Bishop. THANKS ALOT!

Kathy, you have serious issues that keep me laughing.
It's also interesting that the disciples are always depicted as the opposite of their ages. I and many others were also taught that the disciples were people in their forties with greying hair. They were more than likely between the ages of 16 and 25, according to the cultural norms of their time.
Grace and peace,
Johnny
