The Reality of It All
During Junior Youth Councils last week one of the lessons was 'Stop and Stand.' We were talking about all the situations when everyone else is doing the wrong thing, it's important (and hard) for us to stop and stand up and say, "no, I'm not going to do that."
We explained how being a friend of Jesus helps us to be better friends to each other - even the people no one else likes.
One of the examples I was giving was if someone at school is being picked on, we need to have the courage to stop and stand up and say that we're not going to pick on them.
One of the kids raised her hand and said, "Miss Kristy, what if you're the one being picked on?"
My heart sank. It bled for her as she lowered her eyes to the floor.
What was I supposed to say to that?! I wasn't prepared for THAT question.
All I could say was, "Skyler, I will always be your friend and I will never make fun of you."
She smiled.
I was fighting back tears.
