The Best Kids
Des and I had the privilege of going to Charleston, SC with the conservatory kids this past weekend. It always amazes me how good those kids are. It has never felt like a chore to sit and talk with them because they are so much fun to hang out with and they LIKE to hang out with you - yes, 40 teenagers in one room and they want to hang out with adults. Believe it parents.
And they're not the "okay I've come to camp now you have to entertain me" kind. They don't really care WHAT you do, they just want to be with you and they enjoy knowing you like hanging out with them.
They love making memories. They remember stuff that happened years ago at camp that I have a hard time remembering now and they talk like it was last summer.
There was a scene on Army Wives last night where Sterling Brown (the psychiatrist) wants to be a high school counselor. He's explaining this change of heart to his wife and he said there's something about working with kids - they're not as scarred by the things they've experienced and they are willing to change.
I love those kids.
