Is this a joke?
Initiative 957
If passed by Washington voters, the Defense of Marriage Initiative would:
- add the phrase, “who are capable of having children with one another” to the legal definition of marriage;
- require that couples married in Washington file proof of procreation within three years of the date of marriage or have their marriage automatically annulled;
- require that couples married out of state file proof of procreation within three years of the date of marriage or have their marriage classed as “unrecognized;”
- establish a process for filing proof of procreation; and
- make it a criminal act for people in an unrecognized marriage to receive marriage benefits.

They're just trying to make a point...they don't really want all of those absurd (their word) laws to become effective...they just want to weaken the Anderson v. King Co. ruling and make a point...(I don't agree with them though)

Hey Angie,
Of course I remember you! I took a look at your blog and you're married now? Congrats!
One of the things I remember about you is baking soda = effective exfoliant!

I agree with you angie, that marriage is for a man and a woman. I didn't call their argument absurd though...as you see when you read their site...they laws are absurd...and that's exactly how they're trying to make their point. They may suceed in making their point, but I still don't agree with same sex marriages.

Yes, it's got to be a joke because that makes no real sense at all!

My guess is that this is a bunch of propaganda to build support for homosexual marriages and show the far right the slippery slope of staunchly conservative views. A little reverse psychology can be very effective, especially among the uninformed and unaware.
I’m reminded of a group of people who were holding signs that said “Vote against women’s suffrage!” Lots of people were signing the petition only to learn that “women’s suffrage” is a woman’s right to vote.
Grace and peace,
Johnny
