Come Follow Me

I was watching American Idol tonight and I was thinking back to when I had seen some of them audition. It's always interesting to watch someone go on national t.v. making themselves incredibly exposed and perhaps set up for either praise or ridicule. I was thinking about the guts you would have to possess to stand in front of three people who's job is it to judge you. If they don't think you've got what it takes, you leave. If they think you have some glimpse of a star in you, you're in and you're on your way to Hollowood.
Then I got to thinking about being chosen by Jesus and what an honor it is and how we have these citings in the Bible (and today) about such happenings. Jesus was a Rabbi, and if a Rabbi told you to follow him, if he CHOSE you, if he thought you had what it takes, you were in and you were on your way to Hollywood! Perhaps following a Rabbi was the 'American Idol' of that day. Everyone wanted to be a Rabbi's follower.
The amazing thing is, we don't have to stand in front of a panel of judges to be named worthy or not of a famous title; to have a small chance of making it big. By asking forgiveness of sins, believing in God, and committing our lives to Him and being a forever friend of Jesus we are IN.
Famous title?? Try 'Child of God.'
