Mrs. Pelican
So, for whatever reason, G has an obsession with pelicans. She is always talking to imaginary pelicans and they are constantly invading the kitchen when we eat. They DO however protect us from the sharks that swim about the kitchen and want to bite our feet.
All that to say, there is a certain someone who visits every so often to teach G and J about manners. Her name is Mrs. Pelican and she has a British accent (a very bad one, but it makes them pay better attention). She will usually show up when I am making dinner and will want to teach the kids a good manner for them to practice. We will do a little role play with each other to show how to use the good manner and then just as quick as she came, Mrs. Pelican is gone.
Tonight, Mrs. Pelican revisited a good manner she has already spoke about, "Excuse Me." Mrs. Pelican has already explained that "excuse me" can be used when you want to get someone's attention and they are involved in a conversation with someone else. We now know that "excuse me" can also be used when someone is blocking where you want to go.
Some may think it helps them with imaginative play which I think G is capable of grasping. J however, always looks a little skeptical whenever Mrs. Pelican shows up. I hope I don't give the kids a complex...
