Charts Work

It has been very difficult to put an end to a very bad habit G has demonstrated: hitting. This particular habit drives me CRAZY when it happens. No matter the consequence no matter the disappointment caused, nothing worked. Until now.
We have created a chart. A chart that she made herself with 3 things she consistently makes bad choices about - hitting, snatching, & throwing toys.
We have each offense on one side and each day of the week on the top. Every day she does not hit, she gets to put a sticker in the box. When she DOES hit, snatch, or throw a toy, she gets a privilege taken away. Now, for whatever reason, taking away a privilege away before never seemed to work, but now it does.
So we have been hit free for 3 days. Snatch free for 3 days. And no toys were harmed for 2 days.

Believe me, it might not seem like an improvement, but it is. It is because she reminds us how she has chosen now to not do those things. And every day she can see her chart on the fridge and marvels at the number of stickers she has gotten so far.

Keep your fingers crossed!

    good job!!

Mom used to use charts with us... I am a fan of the chart.

Hopefully it will continue to work until it is no longer needed!

I can't wait till Caden is of sticker chart age! I'm totally going to steal the idea.
