Eensy Weensy Spider

The past few days have just been wearing on me. Getting kicked in the face was probably the low of the week.

I was in the laundry room the other day after yet another battle of will's and for whatever reason when I was putting little bibs and miniature pants and shirts in the washing machine I started humming The Eensy Weensy Spider. Now, as you can imagine, being with little kids all day I get the occasional children's tune stuck in my head and can't get it out. But the Eensy Wensy Spider song was particularly profound to me that moment in the basement.

What happened to the Eensy Weensy spider? He/she was climbing up the waterspout. I suspect to climb up a waterspout is pretty tiring for a little spider, even if you do have the God-given ability to do it. And then what happened? The RAIN. Doesn't it always rain? And just when you're halfway up the waterspout too, and it just washes you out.

So what do you do? You wait for the sun to come out. And some how, some way, it dries up the rain and it gets rid of whatever was keeping you from reaching your goal at the other end of the waterspout. And you just start climbing again believing that this time you'll get there.

So as I'm sorting laundry and going over in my head the battle that just happened between me and a spirited four year old, I can relate to this little spider.

And like the little spider, I'll just have to wait for the sun to come out again.

You're doing a great job, Spiderwoman.
I wish we could wait for the sun together on those days when it won't stop raining.
    Miss you.
